If you followed a link to a rewards, leaderboard or badge page, that's why it brought you here. Everything else in your membership is unchanged.
Why we retired it
Almost nobody was using it. Only a small fraction of members engaged with the rewards program in any given month.
Meanwhile it was slowing down every page on the site. The gamification system loaded on every page, for every member, whether they used it or not — and it was one of the heaviest things running. When we asked members what they wanted improved, a faster site came back well ahead of anything gamification was offering.
Given the choice between a feature almost nobody used and a site that loads quickly for everybody, it wasn't a close call.
What this means for you
- Your membership, access and benefits are completely unaffected.
- Rewards, coins, badges and leaderboard pages are no longer available.
- Any coins or points you'd accrued have been retired. There's nothing you need to do.
